Our price is based on the level of the underlying index, but has the added benefit of moving with the liquidity of a futures markets.
Many of our indices markets are quoted 24 hours a day, including Australia 200, FTSE and Wall Street. So you can respond to global stock market news and gain exposure, even when the underlying market is closed.
Futures
We offer trades on a range of contract months, often quoting prices for months which are not quoted in the equivalent futures market. Our minimum contract sizes are also usually smaller than the minimum transaction size of the equivalent future.
This gives you flexibility when taking a position on long-term market moves. A short position in a future can also be used as a hedge to your share portfolio against market falls.
NZD denominated contracts
Exclusive to IG Markets, NZD denominated contracts give you the ability to avoid currency exposure when trading indices. In most cases, if you were to trade on an overseas index you will trade in its natural currency, meaning that you not only take on the underlying market but you also expose yourself to currency risk. NZD denominated CFDs will simplify your trading strategy by allowing you to trade on a select group of international markets in New Zealand dollars, taking currency exposure out of the equation.

You BUY 5 mini NZ$1 contracts of NZD denominated Wall Street Cash at 9705. The deposit required is NZ$400 per contract, or NZ$2000. When you sell your 5 contracts at 9757 the profit on the trade is 5 x $1 x (9757 - 9705) = NZ$260. Unlike traditional CFD contracts, there are no USD currency conversions.
